Pathways and Perspectives is a collection of actual and imaginary landscape settings in Foard's study of decision-making processes through the course of a lifetime. Intrigued by the unlikely influences which alter an intended plan, Foard abstractly depicts these symbolic pathways in aerial landscapes. Fascinated by actual topography, she likens the view to a gameboard of life and engages in a visual dialogue on the beauty of flux: new influences, new challenges, new environment, new losses, new loves, each ideally chipping away the roughest thorns of our being and drawing us into a spiritual evolution. The result: human erosion toward tenderness.

Quirky symbols emerge - rainbow rocks, flowers, gangly forests, rocky landscapes. Each represent a threat or opportunity in the course ahead. Decisions in the course of a lifetime become less about right and wrong, but instead celebrated. The darkness of pain, the heights of joy, equal in their opportunity to serve a seed for a lesson, and thus, inspiration for an observer. Threads of seemingly random experiences weave into a fascinating fabric resulting in our quilted legacy. Clarity is found in reflection that which cannot be seen in a real-time momentary glimpse.

Aerial landscapes personified naturally into the ballgowns and skirts of women in a celebration of her metaphorical independence. On each gown, paint depicts a map-like history of the choices she’s made, creating a symbolically unique crumb trail. Likened to the wisdom her wrinkles expose in time, her gown shows her colors in her souldance as the legacy gift to those behind her on the path of Divinely choreographed lessons.
